Praise & Worship for 22nd November 2019
“Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.
Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.”
Psalms 84
Our God wants to withhold no good thing from us, for the beautiful heart of the Father wants to share everything with us, and have us with Him in His dwelling place forever. And our God being a holy God, needs us to be holy to dwell so closely with Him. Us being fallen and sinful, how could any of this have been possible without God’s perfect and good solution through our Saviour, Jesus? He truly did not hold back the very best of Heaven for us, He gave us everything.
The Psalmist so rightly says that he would rather be a doorkeeper at God’s place, than be in the midst of the emptiness of the world. Joshua did that too, waiting at the door of the tent while Moses would meet with God, expecting nothing out if, just the joy of being as close as was possible to God. Nothing being unnoticed by our God, Favor and Honor was forever bestowed upon Joshua for this heart of worship. Joshua knew none of what was in store for his act of longing to be with God.
Let’s have this heart, a soul that thirsts, longs and even grows faint to be with God always, one that trusts God in all things. Today as we worship, bring that best in you, with eager desire to draw closer to God to just have a new glimpse of Him. We have access to the holy of holies through our Jesus, and are allowed to walk in as children into the Father’s throne room, let’s do it this time with the heart of having a deeper knowledge of Him, expecting nothing but a glimpse of His face. Just to show Him we would rather be here with Him than anywhere else in the world.
