The Everlasting (Eternal) God … an Everlasting Remembrance

Even before time began, the Bible shows God’s Love and God’s Covenant with his people.
God chose us from the very beginning, with the sole purpose of bringing us together for his kingdom, for the pleasure of his will, all the instances which happen in the timeline of the Bible is clearly shows a beautiful plan laid out, a plan to salvage his chosen people through the crucifixion, a plan to bring all his elect together, a plan which is in the Heart of God.
We can see two special characteristics in God
He is an Everlasting God(Psalms 90.12)
The name El Olam means The Everlasting God, we can see that God is both transcendent and immanent, He is in Both extremes, even though He is on the highest of the high He still cares much for his creations, He understands our every need, He is trying to changes us, mould us for his kingdom, and He understands us very clearly since we are his workmanship.
So we understand that he is a mighty God, sitting on the throne of the highest authority he still cares for not so significant “us.”
Can we apply this aspect of God among men in today’s world, we see Kings only sitting with Kings and servants only with servants. A King would never step down from his throne for his servants, however, our God did and he saved us on the cross by giving up his son.
In the Old Testament, God took Israel through the wilderness, where he supplied everything they needed supernaturally and said that He is their dwelling place but after Christ died for us, we have become a temple, He says we are his dwelling place, so much as to say we have become “Little Christs”
2. Everlasting Remembrance
The Bible specifies the plan for God in Christ before the foundations of the earth, according to scripture Jesus died before the foundations of the earth. Jesus was crucified before the foundation of the world (Rev 13:8)
Before He created heaven and earth, God decided who would be His child? who would save the world?
God’s Promises are forever. His promises are fulfilled and being fulfilled. Everything that was written from the beginning has come to pass, everything specific to what was written has come to pass, in short, there were no coincidences.
Exodus 12: 13-14 ” The Passover instituted – First Time”
When God called Moses to lead his people out of bondage, it took him only 10 months to completely crush Egypt through the plagues. If we really study the last plague it has certain similarities since it has to do with blood. God keeps his promises, the blood is a sign of his promise, in the 10th plague, the firstborn of all Egypt, firstborn of all Cattle shall Die, and all the Gods of Egypt will be destroyed but the house of Israel shall not be touched for they put the blood of a lamb without blemish on their two doorposts and lintel of their houses, this blood was a sign for the angel of death to Passover to the next house. God protected His people. ‘ I won’t allow the enemy to come and site you”. And delivered them from the enemy ( from the slavery, bondage).
Points to note:
He does not allow the destroyer to go into our houses ( individual) to strike us.
Whenever the message of blood (Old Testament or New Testament ) is spoken, we actually remind God of His promise. (Rev 13:8)
In the New Testament, we are the house of God, since we have come to Christ, we are under the body of Christ and when his blood came upon us, no plagues shall come over us. We will be saved because Christ’s blood is on us, we can see that in the Old Testament how a lamb without blemish was used as a sacrifice, now we see that the only worthy Lamb without sin Jesus Christ has shed his blood for us so that the second death will not come over us.
His promises are Yesterday, Today and Forever.
The Fulfillment of God’s promise
Matthew 26: 26 -28 ” Jesus institutes the Lord’s supper also known as Communion”
28And as they were eating,
Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said,
“Take, eat; this is My body.”
27Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying,
“Drink from it, all of you.
28For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed
for many for the remission of sins.
This is called the institution of the Lord’s supper also called Passover
Before the crucifixion, Jesus Christ fulfilled the Passover, during the last supper he himself became the Lamb for sacrifice and asked us to take the bread and wine in remembrance of him and the pain he would endure even as it was in the Passover in the Old Testament.
Let us not miss what Jesus was really doing here.
He didn’t start anything New here!!
He took what had already been given ( the Passover) and fulfilled it.
” Christ our Passover, was sacrificed for us”
Every time we take part in the communion, remember, Jesus broke the power of the devil who had the power of death.
No power of devil has any power on us!!
Apostle Paul says ‘ keep the feast with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth”
He instituted what was given to Moses by God as a covenant… Exodus 12:14.” so this day shall be to the memorial, and you shall keep it as a feast to the LORD throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a FEAST by an everlasting ordinance”.
He was not telling them to stop celebrating the Passover but that now on their celebration should be about the fulfilment of the Passover ( that we studied in Exodus 12: 12-14)
The elements of Passover: the Lamb, the blood, the Lord passing over and sparing the people from death
Every component required to fulfil the law was ready and prepared by God, on both occasions there was a sacrifice, spilt blood, death, Christ became sin for us. He who knew no sin took on the sin of the world only he could do that, and even today us believers we have the Bread and Wine to remember what Christ did for us.
Hebrews 2:14-15 NLT
14Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death.
15Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.
It says ‘ only this way could He set free all who lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying”.
We are free in Him no fear in death!!
Because He lives we live too.
Jesus delivered us from the power of the law by fulfilling the law.
He took upon Himself our punishment –
Through His death on the cross, through the death of Jesus ( the Passover it was through the shedding of blood the demands of the law were met.
AT THAT MOMENT through the resurrection, God delivered Him from the power and authority of Satan. Similarly, all who believe in Him have eternal life
Keep this in mind:
Everyone who partakes of Lord’s table you ignite God’s covenant – about ‘the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world”.
1. in Exodus 12:13 ” I am the LORD”, now the blood shall be a sign for you”
Every time we take part in the communion,
the power of the blood will activate the promise over our life. ‘ I am the Lord, the blood shall be a sign for you”
2. Exodus 12, God said “when I see the blood, I will Passover you”
3. the plaque shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt ( unbelievers) “.
Not only that we are protected – ” I won’t allow the enemy ( angel if death) to come and smite you”
5. We are saved from wrath through Him ( we will be saved from the coming wrath – tribulationRomans 5:9)
Amen
Praise the Lord!
Whoever is reading this, May God bless you
